A Very Merry HST BOF: Block 2

I am a bit behind. Thankfully I had already cut my squares weeks ago for this one so I quickly whipped it up the other night.

Block 2: Angel

I had forgotten that I had this Christmas fabric in the cupboard. I think I have enough to do all of the blocks with it so I am considering re-doing the Tinsel block with this fabric as well. We shall see at the end.

Woodland Friends II Quilt

This one was made with the leftover fabric from my Woodland Friends quilt, plus a few solids and a yellow and brown strip to add some different colours.

Simple strips. Why haven't I done a strips quilt before? So easy! I can see more strips quilts in my future.

Backed in this gorgeous panel fabric and quilted in simple straight lines makes it totally reversable.

This quilt would be perfect for either a little boy or girl and is for sale on my Facebook page.

QCA Bee - September Blocks

This month's block is the Converging Corners block by Film In The Fridge.

Laura requested bright fun prints, and her favourite colours are purple, orange, green and pink.

I had some scraps of Michael Miller's Beatrice Bloom and Carnival Bloom which I thought would be perfect for centre blocks.

This block was nice and easy. I'm looking forward to seeing all the blocks together.

Picture Perfect

Last week I signed up for Quiet Play's Say Cheese! Polaroid Block Swap. I had recently been admiring these little blocks over at Jaffa Quilts so it didn't take much persuasion for me to join up.

They are really quick and easy to make using a chain piecing method. You can find the tutorial here. They are also fantastic for using up those small scraps as the centre piece is a 2.5" x 2.5" square.

It only took me about an hour to make all of these yesterday afternoon. Very addictive. Thank goodness Kristy set a limit of 50 to send into the swap. I think I could make hundreds of these from my scrap bins alone.

I made these to start my collection. I think I might make a small quilt for Master 2. Note the Batman ;)

Choc Mint Baby Quilt

Earlier this year I had a request from a friend for some custom bunting. Green, cream and brown for a baby boy's room.

A few weeks back my friend contacted me again to request a playmat for her darling boy that he can also use as a quilt later on when he gets bigger. She wanted the same fabrics as her bunting.

I used these fabrics along with some new prints that co-ordinated nicely.

A plain cream back was chosen. I used Prima Homespun 'Seeded' for a natural look.

It turned out beautifully and has inspired me to plan some similar quilts to make in the future.

Charming

This week I received my charm squares from the Novelty Charm Swap I entered.

I sent in two different fabrics so I received two bundles back (four of each fabric).

A good mix of boy and girl prints. Perfect for I-Spy quilts. The boy one's I will be putting away with my stash for Master 2's I-Spy quilt, and the girl prints I will be adding to the 138 girl print charms I cut from my scraps a while back.

QCA Bee - August Block

I finally finished the August block. Better late than never. Unfortuantely I had a lot going on in my life last month, and it was a block that required a lot of concentration, so I was delayed in completing it.

The feathered star. Here is the tutorial.

McKenna is an American living in Australia so she wanted patriotic red, white and blue. This being so, I chose a red fabric with tiny little stars on it.

When McKenna posted that this is what she wanted, I was terrified. I was dreading August. But, to my surprise, once I got going it wasn't as hard as I had thought it was. Thanks for the challenge McKenna!

Fabric Play

Auditioning some fabrics for a custom order I am making. The main fabric will be the out of print "Truck Stop" by Alexander Henry Fabrics along with the co-ordinating blue dot fabric on the right.
